곡선의 볼륨, 유연한 실루엣을 디자인에 녹여내는 요나스 바웰(Jonas Wagell)은 스웨덴의 건축가이자 디자이너다. 스톡홀름의 예술공예대학 콘스펙과 버그스 커뮤니케이션 스쿨, 뉴욕의 파슨스 디자인 스쿨 등에서 그래픽, 가구 디자인 및 건축을 전공했으며, 졸업한 뒤에는 전략적인 프로젝트 관리와 커뮤니케이션 분야에서 경력을 쌓기 시작했다. 2008년 요나스 바웰은 Wallpaper* Magazine(월페이퍼 매거진)이 선정한 '주목할만한 젊은 건축가 50인' 중 한 사람으로 이름을 알렸다. 같은 해 그가 설립한 JWDA스튜디오(Jonas Wagell Design & Architecture)는 스칸디나비아를 포함해 중국, 이탈리아, 북미에 이르기까지 전 세계의 저명한 전문가와 광범위한 협업을 펼쳐왔다. 이후 진화된 JWDA 스튜디오의 수상작들은 그래픽의 단순함과 장난스러움이 결합되어 현대 라이프스타일의 전형적인 모습을 보여줬다. 오늘날 요나스 바웰은 건축보다 인테리어에 초점을 맞춘 작업에 몰두하고 있다. 가구와 조명, 식기류 부터 오브제에 이르기까지 다양한 범주의 카테고리에 접근해, 예술과 디자인 방향을 컨설팅하면서 여러 장르를 아우르고 있다. 그의 디자인은 특유의 부드럽고 친근한 셰이프와 미니멀함으로 묘사되어 왔다. 그래픽, 인쇄, 타이포그라피에 대한 관심을 통해 디자인에 입문한 그는 단순하고 명확하지만 표현적인 디자인 언어로 오늘날의 작품에 영향을 미쳤다.

CLOUD BED
2016년 클라우드 소파 출시 이후, 요나스 바웰은 중국 디자인 브랜드 자오주오(Zaozuo)와 흥미로운 컬래버레이션 제품을 출시했다. 클라우드 침대는 소파의 심플한 외관과 유사하지만, 두 개의 오버사이즈 쿠션이 있어 앉거나 누웠을 때 최적의 편안함으로 허리를 지탱한다. 침대는 빠른 조립이 가능하며, 도시의 생활 조건에 맞는 두 가지 크기로 판매한다.

In 2016 the Cloud Sofa marked the beginning of a new exciting collaboration with
Chinese design brand Zaozuo. The sofa range was introduced after an intense year of
cultural and aesthetical exchange and development.

CUMULUS SOFA COLLECTION
요나스 바웰이 디자인하고 스웨덴 미탑(Mitab)에서 생산한 쿠물루스 푸프(Cumulus pouf)는 오각형의 불륨감 있는 셰이프를 자랑한다. 평범한 듯 비범한 디자인은 비비드한 컬러를 머금고 집안의 포인트 가구로 활용하기 좋으며, 거실에 비치하면 다양한 사이즈의 소파, 스툴과 어우러져 모던한 분위기를 자아낸다.

Cumulus is a modular system where comfort is combined with the generous feeling of a rescidential sofa and the functional and technical qualities demanded in hotel, restaurants and lounge areas. Cumulus is inviting with aesthetic details and has created a new genre where aesthetic and playfullness combines with functional aspects.

The Local lamp has grown out of the mood in simple bars and relaxed restaurants, where pools of light beneath suspended lampshades create atmospheric social spots. With this ambience as his point of departure, designer Jonas Wagell has created an understated and harmonious pendant lamp as a frame for social get-togethers.

LITCHI LIGHT
리치 라이트는 2019년 자오주오 컬렉션에서 처음 탄생한 제품이다. 이 프로젝트를 위해 요나스 바웰
은 독특하지만 단순한 표현으로 디자인을 구상했다. 다용도 램프의 제품 라인은 펜던트 램프, 천장 램
프, 벽 램프, 테이블 램프 등 네 가지로 구분된다. 이 가운데 가장 주목받는 디자인은 바로 유리 글로브 펜던트다.

The Litchi Light range is the first addition to the Zaozuo collection for 2019. One of the most appreciated lighting typologies is the glass globe pendant. For this project we have revisited this classic in attempt to create a justified addition with a unique, but simplistic expression.

BULKY TEA SET
찻잔 세트는 오버사이즈 실루엣으로 부피감이 돋보인다. 아이들의 엉뚱한 상상력을 모티프로 과장되고 강조된 디자인이 특징이다. 이 세트는 찻잔, 우유병, 쿠키 항아리, 설탕 그릇으로 구성되어 있다.

Bulky has a colourful and expressive form with slightly over-sized details. It’s playful design is inspired by fairy tales and children’s story books where things and shapes were exaggerated and emphasized to fit a kid’s wild imagination.
